12-year-old boy critically injured in drive-by gunfire in Lawndale

A 12-year-old boy was severely hurt in a drive-by shooting on the West Side on Friday night in Lawndale.

Around 8:35 p.m., a grey car’s occupant opened fire on the youngster as he stood on the sidewalk in the 900 block of South Albany Avenue, according to Chicago police.

According to authorities, he was shot in the chest and sent in critical condition to Stroger Hospital.

There were no detentions. Detectives from Area Four are looking.
