On Tuesday night in Woodlawn on the South Side, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the chest.
After officers responded to a report of gunshots, they discovered the boy at around 9:40 p.m. in the entryway of a building in the 6000 block of South Vernon Avenue, according to Chicago police.
According to the cops, he was taken in critical condition to Comer Children’s Hospital.
Police say officers found a handgun nearby on the roadway.
There were no detentions.
