Friday night in West Ridge, a 13-year-old child was shot in the head and later died, according to the authorities.
According to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office, the youngster was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head on a seat in the 7000 block of North Sacramento Avenue around 9:50 p.m.
Police said a witness reported hearing a loud pop and seeing people fleeing the disturbance. After locating the victim, the witness dialled 911.
He was taken to Evanston’s Saint Francis Hospital, where he subsequently passed away.
As Area Three detectives looked into the matter on Saturday, nobody was in detention.
