Officials say a guy who opened fire with a rifle on police in Marshall Square on the West Side on Tuesday night has been taken into custody.
Around 10:50 p.m., police said, they responded to a report of a person carrying a gun in the 2800 block of West 25th Place and found a man standing in the street with a rifle.
He opened fire on the police, dropped his firearm, and fled. He was taken into custody by police following a brief pursuit, according to the police.
There were no reported injuries. Police reported that no officers fired back.
