
Officers intervened to save a child and a toddler after two men were shot dead in the Westlake neighbourhood after an argument, according to police.
The incident happened about 11 p.m. on Tuesday, according to homicide investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department. It took place close to the intersection of South Bonnie Brae and West Sixth streets. According to reports, the two men attended a celebration at a local residence as guests.
Investigators suspect the host shot the two victims after an argument during the gathering turned violent.
A guy was pronounced dead at the site, while the second victim passed away in the hospital.
Officers from the LAPD discovered the suspect together with two small children inside a white sedan. The suspect is thought to be the father of the two kids. They will be turned over to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services after being placed in protective care.
The suspect was taken into police custody after being injured and sent to the hospital.
A few blocks away, there was a reported automobile crash as authorities looked into the fatal gunshot. According to reports, the motorist saw the two shootings and rushed off before losing control of their car.
