CHICAGO- Chicago police said Wednesday morning that a 40-year-old man who was shot and critically injured outside a South Side Red Line station on Sunday night has passed away.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office and CPD, Anthony Dinion passed away on Tuesday after being shot.
Soon after 8:30 p.m., Dinion and another male got into a fight on 69th Street in Englewood, according to CPD. At that point, the man allegedly pulled a gun on him and shot him.
Dinion was wounded in the thigh and was rushed in critical condition to University of Chicago Medical Center.
On Wednesday morning, nobody was in custody, and Area One detectives are looking into it.
Due to an increase in crime on and around the transit system, CPD has planned to add new K-9 units and CTA train patrols.
