DeKalb teenager accused of felony murder after police claim he shot twin brother

According to police, a youngster is charged with murder after allegedly shooting his twin brother in the face on Monday in a DeKalb County residence.

According to police, Xavier Hayes, 17, was detained and placed into the DeKalb County Jail on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault. A hospital declared his brother, 17-year-old Dimitri Hayes, dead.

Police at the site called the shooting “accidental.”

Around five on Monday morning, three DeKalb County police patrol units were conducting an investigation in front of a residence on Young Knoll Street.

The 17-year-old lads were allegedly playing with a loaded firearm in their bedroom at around 3:30 am on Monday, according to the police.

When it shot, one boy was struck in the face and died.

The teenager who survived was questioned by officers at the DeKalb County police headquarters. What evidence the police allegedly used to prosecute someone with murder is unclear.
