
A drive-by gunshot occurred Monday night in West Garfield Park, injuring two persons.
Around 9:50 p.m., a black car passing by opened fire on a lady, 40, and a male, 48, who were in the 4000 block of West Monroe Street.
According to authorities, the woman was shot in the torso and was sent to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. The man was shot in the arm but was otherwise unharmed when he was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital.
According to police, witnesses saw the shooter fire at another individual, who then drove away and it was unclear if he had been hit.
Police said that the vehicle fled towards the Eisenhower Expressway in the east. No one was detained.
According to authorities, the incident took place around two miles to the north of where a guy was killed by gunfire about 30 minutes earlier.
The 33-year-old guy was shot more than 20 times by three people who approached him as he was in the backseat of a car in the 2500 block of South Karlov Avenue. A blue truck carried the assailants away.
