
On Wednesday night in Columbus, a woman from Edinburgh was killed when she was struck by a car.
The Columbus Police Department reports that officers responded to a report of a person being struck on Indianapolis Road close to Arcadia Drive at about 8:15 p.m.
The motorist, 28-year-old Columbus resident Bersain J. Ozaeta, claimed to have struck the pedestrian while driving his Nissan Sentra southbound on Indianapolis Road.
The pedestrian, 38-year-old Edinburgh resident Victoria N. Hagan, was pronounced dead at the scene. For roughly five hours, Indianapolis Road was closed.
The accident is still being looked into. The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, Edinburgh Police Department, CRH EMS, Columbus Fire Department, and the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office were among the additional responding agencies.
