In the Joliet incident, a boy died and another was injured

According to Joliet police, the 16-year-old and 13-year-old were strolling in the 1800 block of McDonough Street when gunshots erupted, hitting both of them.

Before ambulances came, police officers who had responded to the scene provided medical care.

Both boys were taken by paramedics to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, where the 16-year-old was later declared dead, according to the police. The boy’s identify has not yet been made public by the Will County Coroner’s Office.

The gunshot only grazed the 13-year-old youngster. Authorities did not disclose his condition.

Detectives and cops searched the area extensively while conducting their investigation, according to the police.
