Man, 76, critically hurt in hit-and-run in Brea

A 76-year-old man was critically hurt in a hit-and-run accident in Brea, and the driver is still at large.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, it occurred close to the on-ramp from westbound Imperial Highway to the northbound 57 Freeway.

The victim, who had parked his car nearby for an unknown reason, was struck while crossing the street outside of a clearly posted crosswalk, according to the police. Officials stated that he was rushed to the hospital for surgery and that he should be fine.

Police were informed by witnesses at the scene that the collision involved an older model grey Lexus vehicle.

There was no immediate information on any potential suspects.

While the investigation is ongoing, the westbound lanes of Imperial Highway from State College Boulevard to the 57 Freeway are closed, as well as the northbound on-ramp to that freeway from Imperial Highway west.
