
According to authorities, a guy fired shots on officers in Zion on Thursday night before being shot and killed.
According to Zion police, officers were called to a report about 6:20 p.m. from a lady who claimed a relative was attempting to enter her home in the 2000 block of Ezra Avenue.
When two police officers confronted the relative, a 47-year-old man, he pulled out a revolver and started shooting, according to the police, which forced the officers to flee. After firing, the man fled with the gun, according to police.
About a block away, a third policeman ran into the man and shot him, according to the police. The firearm was found on the scene.
Police added that after being transferred to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan, the man was declared dead.
No cops were hurt.
When the incident occurred, the Lake County Major Crime Task Force started looking into it.
