Man shot by gunmen at West Pullman gas station, according to police

According to Chicago police, a man was shot and died at a petrol station in the West Pullman area early on Wednesday.

Around 9:20 a.m., two shooters opened fire on the man in the 11600 block of South Michigan Avenue, according to authorities.

Police reported that the 25-year-old male was declared deceased at the scene. His name hasn’t been made public by the authorities.

Police claimed the gunmen fled in a silver sedan. There were no recorded arrests.

The incident took place in the 5th police district, which is located on the Far South Side and runs from Roseland to Altgeld Gardens.

According to police figures, the number of shooting reports in the district has decreased 34% from 175 to 116 over the same period last year. Compared to last year, there were 29% fewer murders, from 42 to 30.

However, compared to 2019, violent crime in the district is still higher this year. Three years ago, there were 36% more murders and 8% more shootings.
