After a body that matched the description of a missing autistic 4-year-old from Indiana was found, the hunt for her has been called off, according to authorities.
Remains matching her description were discovered in a pond on Friday in the Legacy Farms community of Plainfield, Indiana, roughly 15 miles northeast of Indianapolis, according to the Plainfield Police Department. Fiedwenya “NeeGee” Fiefe disappeared on Thursday.
The search for missing NeeGee has ended, police stated on Facebook, “despite the heroic efforts of our residents, volunteers, police, fire, along with local and state agencies.”
Even though the identification hadn’t yet been verified, the announcement went out.
Authorities appealed with the public to respect the privacy of Fiedwenya Fiefe’s family at this time and to keep them in their prayers and thoughts.
NeeGee, a nonverbal girl who adored water, was last seen wearing a pink nightgown. It is thought that she wandered off after a misunderstanding caused her family to believe she was with her granny, a woman who has been identified as the kid’s mother.
