Police in North Tonawanda are looking into a woman’s death on a railroad bridge

Police in North Tonawanda are looking into a tragedy that occurred Friday night on the railroad bridge between Sweeney and Oliver streets.

According to police, they received a complaint about 8:30 p.m. regarding a woman who had reportedly fallen from an unknown height, hit the railroad bridge deck, and maybe been hit by a train.

While police, firefighters from the NT Fire Department, and ambulance workers from Twin City worked to recover the 37-year-old woman’s body, train movement in the area was stopped. She had various blunt force injuries, according to the police, but it didn’t seem like she had been hit by a train.

Numerous witnesses were reportedly brought to police headquarters to provide statements about the incident and what might have caused the woman to collapse, according to the police.
