
On Monday evening, flash flooding brought forth by heavy rain forced the closure of major roadways and highways throughout Rhode Island.
For their evening commute, Providence commuters were stranded on I-95 due to flash floods that rendered the road inaccessible.
Numerous vehicles were submerged alongside the highway. Those trapped inside reportedly received assistance from police. On the I-95 centre divider, others could be seen looking for cover.
Due to flooding caused by the severe rain that converted roadways into rivers, Route 10 was among the other highways in Providence that had to be closed by authorities.
It was reported that a structure collapsed in the city due to heavy rain. According to Providence police, nobody was inside when it collapsed.

On Monday, a large region of strong storms was formed by a delayed cold front stretched across the Northeast.
Flood Watches include a large portion of the Appalachian and Ohio Valleys as well as coastal Maine, Boston, and New York, as well as northern Alabama and northwest Georgia. Over 80 million people were affected by flood advisories on Monday as a whole.
The remainder of the week is expected to see sporadic thunderstorms, with some rainfall totals reaching 3-5 inches.
