As part of the city’s Forward for Fun programme, the El Barrio Community Center in Rockford’s 11th Ward staged a march and festival on Saturday.
The campaign aims to bring residents together for fresh, enjoyable events while also promoting nearby small businesses, two years after the COVID-19 pandemic, which cut off many individuals from their communities.
The event was place at Keye-Mallquist Park following the parade.
“The huge key to this is getting people out and about in the community, getting them to other parts of the city that they don’t typically frequent and letting them know that we have tremendous assets in all 14 wards of our community,” the mayor of Los Angeles, Tom McNamara, says.
