After gunfire erupted outside the Carl Hayden High School grounds during a football game on Friday night, the scenario for families there was frightening.
On October 7, at about 9 p.m., gunfire were heard during a game against Douglas High School.
Students could be seen ducking for cover and lying on the ground after “a tonne of gunshots” erupted outside the school, according to video taken by Brittany Bowyer.
That evening, Bowyer tweeted, “Everyone has been sent into the auditorium and we are now being pushed away from the windows.”
No injuries were reported, however Phoenix police acknowledged that there was evidence of gunfire being discharged at a site nearby off campus.
After roughly an hour, families were reportedly permitted to return home.
