According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the son of a woman who was allegedly hacked with a samurai sword in Los Angeles’ Mid-Wilshire neighbourhood Tuesday night is charged with attempted murder.
It happened in the 1200 block of Victoria Avenue around 11:20 p.m.
Responding policemen allegedly discovered the man, later identified as Eric Herrera, roaming in the middle of the street while brandishing a sword.
According to police, Herrera ignored the officers’ orders to lay down the sword and instead walked up to them carrying it. At that point, Herrera was taken down and arrested by the officers using a taser.
His mother suffered multiple cuts to her arm with the sword, which required treatment at the hospital. According to authorities, her status is stable.
